Phuket International Airport (HKT)
Phuket International Airport sits at the north of the island, in Mai Khao, and it is the only runway that matters for a holiday here. There is no train. International long-haul flights arrive at the large international building; domestic flights from Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the rest of Thailand use the smaller building next door. The two are a five-to-ten-minute covered walk apart. Do not navigate by terminal numbers — signs and websites disagree — navigate by the words International and Domestic, which is what your boarding pass and the departure boards show.
International and domestic terminals at HKT
You almost certainly want the international building. The domestic one matters if you are connecting onto a separate Thai ticket.
International terminal
This is where flights from Europe, the Gulf, China, Russia, Singapore and other countries arrive and leave. Passport control, the visa-on-arrival counter and the priority lane we use all sit in this building. If your ticket is an international arrival into HKT, this is your building, full stop.
Domestic terminal
Flights inside Thailand: Bangkok (both airports), Chiang Mai, Samui and the rest. There is no immigration here, so arrival fast track as we sell it does not apply. If you land internationally and hold a separate low-cost ticket onward, you clear immigration, collect bags, walk the covered gallery and check in again — that is a connection, not a transfer, and it needs hours, not minutes.
The covered walk between the two buildings takes 5–10 minutes at a normal pace with a trolley. There is no shuttle you have to catch.

Off the aircraft
